The latest DT Max program update is now available for downloading. It features the fully functional T2 program for fiscal periods ending from 2001 to 2014 and fully supports Corporation Internet Filing (T2, CO-17 and AT1). Installing this version will update your version of DT Max to 17.25.

Please note that all program versions are first made available on the Internet.

DT Max T2

1. Program certification

Federal

For DT Max T2 version 17.25, the federal barcodes and the Corporation Internet Filing module have received full CRA certification valid for taxation years ending up to and including October 31, 2014 under the DT29 stamp.

Alberta

Likewise, this version has received full certification for the RSI (Return and Schedule Information), as well as for the Net File module that allows the electronic filing of Alberta corporate tax returns, from Alberta's Tax and Revenue Administration (TRA) under the DT29 stamp.

2. Version highlights

  1. Re-entry of information required in keyword group SR&EDINFO (federal Sch. 381)

    Pursuant to a change that has been brought to federal Schedule 381 (Manitoba Manufacturing Investment Tax Credit) regarding the renounced credit, please note that if you have entered information using the keyword RenounceCrOV in the keyword group SR&EDInfo , you are now required to re-enter the information using the new keyword RenounceCROV.s under the same keyword group, in order to specify what portion of the renounced credit applies for each period it was earned.

  2. EFILE

    1. Efiling of amended federal returns

      Please note that starting with version 17.25 of DT Max, users can now submit amended corporate returns to the CRA via EFILE. This service will be supported for 2014 tax year ends.

      We invite you to consult the CRA's website for more information.

      To transmit an amended T2 return with DT Max, you must:

      1. Indicate that this is an amended return using the keyword StatusChange .
      2. Make the relevant change(s) to the data entry to reflect the amendment.
      3. Remove the Progress group stating "Efile acknowledgement – federal"
      4. The Progress keyword has to be deleted in order to reset the status to "Data OK"
      5. Upon recalculation, the return will be "Ready for EFILE"; it may be transmitted using the same steps as the original submission.

      Subsequent amendments can also be transmitted provided that the Progress group (step 3) has been deleted.

    2. "Terms and Conditions" message

      The Canada Revenue Agency now requires software developers to display a "Terms and Conditions" message prior to transmitting a federal corporate return.

    3. Additional Alberta Schedules now supported by Alberta Net File

      Alberta Net File now supports the transmission of Alberta Schedules 12 to 21 inclusively. This service will also be supported for 2014 tax year ends.

  3. New options available regarding the Manitoba Odour-Control Tax Credit

    If you are claiming the Manitoba Odour-Control Tax Credit (federal Schedule 385) and you have entered the keyword Credit-OV.o in the OdourControl group, please note that new options have been added to this keyword and we recommend that you verify your data entry to ensure that the appropriate option has been chosen. Please refer to our New options section below for details.

  4. Keywords YEARBEGIN.P and YEAREND.P for federal Schedules 71 and 72 now mandatory

    If your corporate client is a member of a single-tier or multi-tier partnership, and you must use either federal Schedule 71 or 72 to determine the corporation's income inclusion in respect of the partnership, please be advised that the keywords YearBegin.p and YearEnd.p in the keyword group Partner-Inc-Inclus are now mandatory and must be entered.

  5. Reduction of the Small Business Tax rate for Newfoundland and Labrador and Yukon

    Please take note that for both jurisdictions of Newfoundland and Labrador and Yukon, the Small Business tax rate will be reduced from 4% to 3%, effective July 1st, 2014.

    6. List-Price : Manufacturer's suggested retail price

      Use the keyword List-Price to enter the manufacturer's suggested retail price for the passenger vehicle leased. Do not include taxes.

    7. Deemed-Interest : Total interest deemed earned on a refundable amount

      Use the keyword Deemed-Interest to enter the imputed interest on any refundable deposits in excess of $1,000 for the current year and preceding tax years.

    8. Leasing-Reimb : Reimbursement of leasing expenses

      Use the keyword Leasing-Reimb to enter the total reimbursements receivable in the current year and since the lease began.

    9. Leasing-OV : Override of automatic calculation of non-deductible car leasing expenses

      Only use this keyword if you wish to bypass the automatic calculation performed by DT Max. Amounts entered in other keywords associated with leasing expenses will then be ignored.

    10. Province.v : Province

      Use the keyword Province.v to indicate the province so that the correct GST, PST or HST rate is applied in calculating the non-deductible portion of automobile expenses.

      If there is no entry for this keyword, DT Max will look at the keyword Jurisdiction.

    11. Other-Expenses : Other non-deductible automobile expenses

      Use the keyword Other-Expenses to enter other non-deductible automobile expenses.
